Cindy Pon’s Character Debut Party

Cindy Pon's Silver PhoenixI’m so excited to promote Cindy’s debut novel, SILVER PHOENIX. First of all, Cindy is a fellow Word Ninja, and the first ninja author to be featured here. And, I scored an ARC a while back on one of my secret Strand missions with Sharon and it’s been sitting tantalizingly atop my TBR pile ever since! Welcome, Cindy!

About SILVER PHOENIX

On the day of her first betrothal meeting–and rejection–ai ling discovers a power welling deep within her. She can reach into other people’s spirits, hear their thoughts, see their dreams…and that’s just the beginning.

ai ling has been marked by the immortals; her destiny lies in the emperor’s palace, where a terrible evil has lived, stealing souls, for centuries. She must conquer this enemy and rescue her captive father, while mythical demons track her every step. And then she meets chen yong, a young man with a quest of his own, whose fate is intertwined with hers. Here is a heart-stopping, breathtaking tale for fans of action, fantasy, and romance–of anything with the making of legend.

ai ling’s 2009 Debut Party

The Guest List

She would have the friends she met from her journey there, chen yong and li rong.

The Party

It’s a small, intimate meal at a tea house near her home, featuring lots of good Chinese food made with fresh ingredients. The theme is simple: good company and good food. To thank her guests, ai ling would give chen yong a personalized engraved chop in a beautiful stone. li rong would receive a nicely bound adventure tale for him to read.

I love an intimate gathering of close friends, and fresh Chinese sounds delicious. Probably much yummier than the Great Wall of China takeout we get around here!

The Guest of Honor: ai ling

ai ling is wearing a lavender dress with flowing sleeves, embroidered with flowers that remind her of spring. Her theme song? I’ll Stand by You by The Pretenders.

Cool! Nice blending of the old with the new!

Cindy Pon’s Advice for ai ling on Her Big Debut

Don’t over eat! Flirt a little with chen yong and don’t let li rong talk you into kissing him.

Flirt a little? No kissing? Hmmm. *Thinks Cindy is being too strict with ai ling on her big night!*

I’m looking forward to devouring my SILVER PHOENIX ARC and finding out what happens on ai ling’s quest. Best of luck to Cindy on her exciting debut!

SILVER PHOENIX is available in book stores now, and also online through Indiebound.
